Candy, Cookies, and Cake, Oh My!

A few months ago, we traveled to Ohio to attend the wedding of my cousin, Jill to her high school sweetheart, Josh. These two have been together for as long as I can really remember, well not really…but when someone has been at all the family gatherings for the last 7 years it sure seems that way! So it came as no surprise that their wedding was such a joyous celebration for all that attended. Just this past weekend, Jill was in our town for a training for her work. Spending time with her this weekend reminded me that I had wanted to post some photos from her wedding. While we were not the photographers for their wedding, I couldn’t resist taking photos. Jill and Josh had a beautiful wedding with some unique traditions that I had not seen before.  This was most definitely a wedding to remember, not only because of my love for Jill and Josh, but also for the many details in these photos!

These three flower girls are also cousins of mine-how precious are they!?

Jill’s dad, my uncle, didn’t have a whole lot to say about the wedding planning, except that they have chair covers! We all had a nice laugh about that, and it sure adds a nice touch!

See this adorable little table? In lieu of a traditional head table, Jill and Josh sat here in the middle of the room, with their bridal party on tables around them and all of the other guests around them.

Having a candy table at a wedding seems more common in the last couple of years, but this candy table was like a candy table times ten! Jill and Josh had so many candy choices for their guests to take home. It was a huge hit at their wedding. I love all the colors!

Perhaps the most memorable part of Jill and Josh’s reception was their cookie table. Jill and Josh are from Youngstown, Ohio. It is said that this wedding tradition of a cookie table originated in Youngstown, Ohio where in addition to a wedding cake, a table- or in this case-TABLES! of cookies are set out at the reception. All the cookies are homemade by family members in advance. Both Jill and Josh’s moms made something like 1000 cookies each! Plus cookies from aunts, friends, etc.

In case ANYONE still had room for a little more sweets, here was their wedding cake….:)

Congrats to Jill and Josh! If only we all lived a little bit closer!
